Pineapple Habanero Infused Tequila

While regular tequila is fun, we like to spice things up on occasion and create infusions to add another layer of flavor to our cocktails. Like this pineapple habanero infused tequila. It’s a mix of sweet and heat that will bump up any margarita recipe.

When we made the mango, papaya and pineapple infused tequila it was perfect for those who like sweet/fruity drinks such as the Taste of the Tropics Margarita.

This time though, we have really kicked it up a notch with this pineapple habanero infused tequila. That’s right… we said habanero. This is one blend that is not for the weak. So, put on your big kid panties and bust out those spicy peppers.

And if you want something that’s all heat, check out the Thai chili infused tequila. There’s no sweet in that one to cool down the spice. Just hot, hot peppers. And it’s excellent in the Spicy Blood Orange Margaritas.

But back to this pineapple habanero infused tequila….

For the silver (blanco) tequila, use a 100% blue agave tequila. Maybe Patron, Milagro or Cazadores.

Ingredients

  • Silver tequila
  • Habaneros
  • Pineapple
  • Mason jar or some other glass container with a lid

Directions

Cut up 2-3 Habanero peppers and a handful of pineapple. For less spice, remove seeds from habaneros. Also, be careful handling the peppers and don’t touch your face or your eyes while doing so.

Put a lid on the jar, label it with name and date and place in fridge. The habaneros should infuse rather quickly but you’ll want to make sure the pineapple also comes through. Check it after a few hours to see how it’s doing. If the spice is good, remove the habaneros and keep the pineapple infusing. Check it again in a day or so. Once the taste is where you want it, strain out the fruit and peppers and store in a clean mason jar.

Don’t forget to check out the Pineapple Habanero Margarita that uses this infused tequila!
