Ventura Orangecello Blood Orange Liqueur {and a Sage Advice Cocktail}

It’s no secret that I love blood oranges cocktails. Especially when they are as deliciously beautiful as the blood orange margaritas. So, when I had the chance to try Ventura Orangecello Blood Orange Liqueur I was very, very, very excited to say the least. And I’m sure you’ll feel the same way.

The first product I tried from Ventura Limoncello Company was their Limoncello. It is bursting with lemon flavor and perfect in the Lemon Effect Cocktail. I expected to also be delighted by the Orangecello Blood Orange Liqueur. (Hint, I was).

About Ventura Orangecello Blood Orange Liqueur

Ventura Limoncello Company is located in sunny Ventura, California. Given their location, they have access to all of the wonderful citrus fruits the California valley has to offer, including my beloved blood oranges. All of the fruit they use is hand peeled and their liqueurs are all-natural and handcrafted. The result is wonderful liqueurs that taste like the fruits they were made from.

The Orangecello Blood Orange Liqueur is a digestif, or after dinner drink. It has a rich blood orange flavor that you get immediately after sipping. It’s followed by sweetness that comes from the sugar that’s used in making the liqueur. At the end you get a little of the alcohol kick from the grain alcohol. It is 29% abv so it’s not too strong. Oh, it also won .

I’ve enjoyed it both straight from the freezer as a digestif and in various cocktails. My mom was also lucky enough to be granted a tasting. She enjoyed it as much as I did. No surprise there, of course.

Because this liqueur has such a rich taste, I think it’s perfect for mixing with strong spirits such as whiskey and aged rum. To start with, try this Sage Advice Cocktail and/or some of the Orangecello blood orange cocktail recipes the company has on their website.
