Li Hing Mui Margarita

In our humble opinion, the best margarita recipes are made using simple, home made ingredients. Using fresh squeezed lime juice and simple syrup makes this margarita taste far superior than any made with premixed sweet and sour mix.

This margarita uses Li Hing Mui powder. Li hing mui is a salty dried plum and when used in a margarita gives the drink a sweet and salty taste that makes it irresistibile. If you can’t find li hing mui powder in a store where you live it can be ordered online (affiliate link).

Li Hing Mui Margarita


2 oz Grand Marnier

1 1/2 oz tequila

2 oz lime juice

1 1/2 oz simple syrup

1/2 teaspoon Li Hing Mui powder

lime wedge for garnish


Fill margarita glass with ice. Combine ingredients with several ice cubes in a shaker. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into glass. Garnish with a lime wedge. Makes one margarita.
