Ariun & Agnes {an apricot chamomile cocktail}

Vodka might not get as much love from me as it did in the past, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped drinking it. In fact, after receiving a new bottle in the mail, I created this apricot chamomile cocktail. Those two flavors combined with vodka and bubbles and a bit of lemon, it was an easy sipper. It was also given two thumbs up by my mom. Which of course is always a sure sign of cocktail success.

The idea for an apricot chamomile cocktail came to me after seeing a jar of my homemade apricot jam in the fridge next to a bottle of recently made chamomile syrup. The two sounded wonderful together so I played around with them in a couple different cocktails. The first was this vodka bubbles cocktail. The second was one with rye whiskey that still needs some tweaking. (However, this apricot rye whiskey cocktail is fantastic if you want to try it).

For the vodka, I used Snow Leopard Vodka. It’s new to the market, produced in Poland and made from spelt grain. Distilled six times, it has a nutty taste and is smooth going down. According to the bottle and the company’s website, 15% of all profits from the vodka are donated to Snow Leopard Conservation Projects. Buying a bottle means you’re drinking for a good cause, yes?

And in case you were wondering, the name of this cocktail comes from two of the snow leopards featured on Snow Leopard Vodka’s website. Ariun is a wondering male who may or may not have fathered some of Agnes’ cubs. Apparently the researches are waiting for genetic testing to be sure…

Ariun & Agnes
Serves: 1
  • 1 barspoon apricot jam
  • 1-1/2 ounces vodka (I used Snow Leopard Vodka)
  • ½ ounce lemon
  • ¼ ounce chamomile syrup*
  • 1 ounce Prosecco
  1. *To make the chamomile syrup, add ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, add 2 tablespoons dried chamomile flowers and let steep 20 minutes. Strain and store in a glass bottle in the fridge until ready to use.
  2. To make the cocktail:
  3. Add apricot jam, vodka, lemon and chamomile syrup to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.
  4. Shake and double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  5. Top with prosecco.
